About Us

Who We Are | ka hih na uh

We are a Zo ethnic minority group of people from Myanmar (Burma). Within our organization, there are currently 10 churches spread across 5 states.

What We Do | ka sep uh

The Zo Christian Association exists to glorify God by fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) through discipleship and missions. Our goal is to be faithful disciples of Jesus and actively engage in His mission. We gather annually for a conference hosted by one of our churches to strengthen our faith and commitment to His calling.

English

We believe the Bible contains 66 books that were divinely inspired, that it is inerrant in its original manuscripts, that it is sufficient, and that it is the authoritative Word of God. We believe God has preserved His Word and that the Bible is sole authority for our faith and life. (Ex.32:16; Prov.30:5; Matt.24:35; 2Tim.3:16-17; 2 Peter.1:20-21; Rev.21:5.).

English

We believe there is only one eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere present Triune God- eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – who is the creator and sustainer of all things. (Deuteronomy 6:4-5; 1 Timothy 2:5; John 4:24; 10:30; 15:26; 16:15; Acts 5:3-4; 2 Cor. 3:17; Gal. 4:6).

English

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who is fully God and fully human. He entered human form by the conception of the Holy Spirit and was miraculously born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, died to make atonement for the sins of all mankind, was resurrected, and is now the mediator at the right hand of the Father. He is the head of the church, which is His body. He will return in power and glory to take His church to heaven and his return is not far off. (John 1:1, 14, 18; Phil. 2:5-11; Rom. 9:5; 2 Cor. 5:21; Gal. 4:4; Col. 2:9; Titus 2:13; Heb. 1:8, 9:28; 1 Pet. 3:18; 1 Jn 2:1)

English

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity. We believe that the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father in Jesus’ name to teach and remind us of Christ’s words and convict us of sin. We believe that the Holy Spirit brings the new birth at the point of salvation, comes to live within believers, and permanently seals our salvation. We believe that the Holy Spirit gives the power to overcome temptation, defeat sin, produce righteousness, and provide unique gifts for each believer to use in building up the body and carrying out the church’s purpose. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells all who are born again, conforming them to the likeness of Jesus Christ. (John 16:7-8, 12-15; Acts 9:31; Rom. 8:26; Eph. 1:13-14).

English

We believe that all people are created in the image of God. We believe that because of Adam’s sin, all people are sinful by nature and choice. We believe people, unless they have experienced forgiveness in Christ, are lost and alienated from God. (Gen. 1:27; Ps. 51:5; Jer. 2:22; Rom. 3:20-23; 1 Cor. 1:18; Heb. 2:3).

English

We believe salvation is the result of genuine repentance of sin and faith in the atoning work of Christ. Salvation is not the result of good works; rather, it is by grace through faith alone in Christ. We believe Jesus’ death on the cross is the only payment for our sins that God will accept. We believe that all people who believe in Christ are justified by Christ’s blood and enter into a personal relationship with God without the need for any other mediator. We believe that God adopts into His family all those who repent of their sins and accept by faith the Lord Jesus. (John 3:16; Acts 4:12; Rom. 9:8; 2 Cor. 6:18; Gal. 3:26; Eph. 1:5; 2:5, 8-9).

English

We believe that the church’s primary purpose is to glorify Christ. We believe the church is made up of all who believe in the Lord Jesus. We believe that the Scriptures command believers to gather in community to devote themselves to worship, fellowship, ministry, outreach, prayer, and the teaching of His words, and to observe the ordinances of baptism and communion. We believe that God has gifted each member of the church to fulfill the purpose of the church. We believe that each church should provide a biblical leadership structure that will provide direction to the church as it fulfills its purpose, as well as accountability, discipline, preservation of unity, and care for the body. 9Isai.51:6; Acts.20:28; Rom.12:5; 1Cor.10:17; 12:12-13; Eph.1:22; 3:21;4:11-16; 1Tim. 3:15).

English

Baptism

We believe that believers are commanded to be baptized in water by immersion as a visual picture of what Christ has done in their lives. We believe that water baptism, which is not required for salvation but rather demonstrates the believer’s obedience, honors the Father who sent His Son, Christ who died for us, and the Holy Spirit who convicted, sealed, and guaranteed our eternal promises (Matt.28:19; John.3:23; Acts.2:38; Eph.4:5.)

Communion/Lord’s Supper

We believe that communion, commonly called the Lord’s Supper, is a physical reminder that Jesus died for our sins and will return again. We believe communion should only be taken by those who have trusted in Christ and are living in obedience to Him. We practice open communion—this means we invite all believers to participate in communion with us, not just those who are part of our church. (Matt. 26:26-29; Luk. 22:14-20; Acts.2:42; 1Cor.10:21; 11:17-24.)

Prayer

We believe that prayer is essential to the growth of every believer. We believe that God hears and answers prayers today, and to glorify himself, he performs miracles and heals. (John.14:13,14; 15:16; 16:23,24; Phil.4:6; Heb.4:16; 1 John.5:14.)
